My Passion for Public Health & Policy

My interest in public health and policy stems from observing both the strengths and shortcomings of our current healthcare systems, particularly in how they serve women, children, and minority communities. I believe there is a critical need for more inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive approaches that address health disparities at both the community and systemic levels.

I am passionate about working with women and children because they often represent some of the most vulnerable populations in health outcomes. Women, as primary caregivers, frequently navigate healthcare systems not only for themselves but also for their families. Empowering women to make informed decisions about their health has a ripple effect that strengthens families and entire communities. Similarly, ensuring children have access to supportive, preventative care environments is essential for healthy development and long-term well-being.

I am particularly drawn to addressing the inequities faced by minority populations. Systemic barriers such as unequal access, lack of culturally competent care, and limited resources contribute to serious disparities — for example, disproportionately high maternal mortality rates among minority women. My passion lies in developing and supporting policies and programs that close these gaps and ensure all individuals, regardless of background, have the opportunity to achieve optimal health.

Ultimately, I see public health and policy as tools to create meaningful, large-scale impact. Whether through community engagement, policy development, or global health initiatives, I want to contribute to building systems that are not only effective but also compassionate and just. My commitment is to advancing health equity and ensuring that historically underserved populations are prioritized in the pursuit of healthier futures.
