Pre-Senior
Throughout this year, I experienced significant personal growth in both my confidence and resilience. Entering my pre-senior year, I was balancing demanding coursework, leadership responsibilities, scholarship preparation, and planning for my future after graduation. Although this year was often stressful and overwhelming, it ultimately helped me become more independent, adaptable, and confident in my ability to handle challenges.

In what way(s) did you personally grow this year? How did you demonstrate or rebuild the resilience needed to move forward? How will you utilize resources and your support network to hold yourself accountable in continuing this growth?
One of the biggest ways I grew this year was through learning how to balance multiple responsibilities while still prioritizing my long-term goals. As a biology and chemistry major pursuing a future in public health, my coursework required a great deal of discipline and time management. At the same time, serving as a Resident Advisor pushed me outside of my comfort zone and strengthened my leadership skills. Being an RA has taught me how to support students through academic, emotional, and personal difficulties while creating an environment where residents felt welcomed and supported. Through this role, I became more confident in communicating with others, resolving conflicts, and taking initiative in difficult situations.

This year also challenged me emotionally and mentally in ways that forced me to become more resilient. There were many moments where balancing academics, leadership, and future planning felt overwhelming, especially while preparing for opportunities such as studying abroad and applying for scholarships. However, instead of allowing stress and self-doubt to stop me, I learned how to continue moving forward even during difficult periods. I became better at asking for help when needed, relying on my support system, and reminding myself why I started pursuing these goals in the first place.

Receiving good news regarding my study abroad scholarship and beginning to prepare to study abroad in South Korea was one of the most impactful experiences of this year. It reinforced my confidence in my abilities and showed me that I am capable of pursuing opportunities that once felt out of reach. Preparing for this experience also encouraged me to become more open-minded, adaptable, and willing to step into unfamiliar environments. As someone interested in public health and minority health, studying abroad represents not only academic growth, but also an opportunity to strengthen my understanding of different cultures, perspectives, and healthcare experiences.

Another important aspect of my growth this year was learning that resilience does not mean handling everything alone. Throughout the year, I relied heavily on the support of friends, mentors, coworkers, professors, and the communities I am part of through UHP and campus involvement. Having people who encouraged me, listened to me, and reminded me of my capabilities helped me continue moving forward during stressful times. This taught me the importance of utilizing available resources and maintaining strong support systems instead of trying to manage every challenge independently.

As I move into my senior year, I hope to continue building on the growth I experienced this year. I want to continue improving my confidence, stress management, and ability to maintain balance while pursuing ambitious goals. I also hope to hold myself accountable by continuing to rely on my support systems, utilizing campus resources, and prioritizing both personal well-being and academic success. Overall, this year taught me that growth often comes from discomfort and uncertainty. While this year was challenging at times, it helped me become more resilient, self-aware, and confident in my ability to succeed. I am entering my senior year with a stronger sense of purpose, greater confidence in myself, and excitement for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
